Today Julie begins to look at Jesus' parable of the sower, In this message Julie talks about how Jesus used the ordinary to explain the extraordinary. That Jesus communicated to a people who were in different places of readiness as far as the Gospel was concerned. Some would recieve the message and go on to bear much fruit others would start and fade, become distracted and some would not be touched at all.

“This morning Anna looks at James 4:1-6 where James is warning his hearers about the dangers of allowing earthly wisdom to invade the life of the church family. Selfishness and envy are leading to fights and quarrels. Misunderstanding about who God is, and how we relate to him, are leading to prayerlessness or selfish prayers which are answered with a loving ‘no’! We find there is no neutral ground when it comes to God’s Kingdom. James reassures us that humility still opens the way back to God.

This all probably takes place in Capernaum – a fishing village on the Sea of Galilee – about 20 miles from Nazareth. Jesus appears to have based himself here for his ministry in Galilee. In this incredibly challenging portion of Marks Gospel. We find Jesus' own family saying that he has 'lost his mind'...The Pharisees are not far behind with their accusations saying that Jesus is actually possessed by Satan. Geraint navigates this explaining how the unrivalled Jesus responds.

These few verses are packed with drama and tension, we have possibly, on the same sabbath day yet another stepping over the lines by Jesus in order to make a point. Jesus without doubt understood the consequences of his actions both to the one who needed healing, and the Pharisees who were as we see, watching closely to see what He would do. As always the unrivalled Jesus does not disappoint.

The disciples are walking with Jesus through a field of grain, just picking heads of grain as they travelled through the fields, which was permitted as long as they were not using a sickle. But this day happened to be a Sabbath and for the religious police (The Pharisees) This was not allowed. However shortly after Jesus declares himself a Lord of the Sabbath. Lets see how this unfolds.

What is the answer for broken human nature and it’s devastating results? James points us to heavenly wisdom. Anna explores what this wisdom is, how it is different to earthly ‘wisdom’, how we can tell the difference, and why humility and relationship is at the heart of it all.

A question about fasting, Jesus refers himself as the bridegroom and introduces the idea that there will come a time where he will be snatched away from his followers, He also addresses the question about fasting with the familiar home spun wisdom of the common man and women...drawing distinctions between the message of the kingdom and the tradition of man.

Today Julie takes on the calling of Levi whose life is going to be totally changed for ever. Levi a tax collector, a social outcast, almost the lowest of the low, collaborating with the invaders. Yet Jesus shows us that he is not afraid to come close. Julie asks the question, "How would any of these sinners hear the good news...if the church as it was would not recognise their need," Rejected by those who represented God in a religious society but welcomed by Jesus speaks of a God who is unrivalled.

Mark 2:1-11, Jesus is back in Capernaum again. Here we have one of the dramatic healings in the N.T of a paralytic man who because of the crowds is carried above the heads of the crowd and is lifted on the roof of the house where Jesus is speaking…The friends (possibly family members) lowered the helpless man through roof. And we see that Jesus responds to their faith “Jesus saw their faith. So, he said to the man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

Anna continues this series in James and in this message we see that James exposes both those that teach and also those that listen to the responsibilities of the great power of the words. It really was tough love from James that resonates true today. But the crucial fact of the matter is that in our own strength, we have little to no power in controlling this fire and that only by bearing our weakness and confessing our need for supernatural strength in Jesus will we be able to overcome.

What should I expect?   Be' ddylwn i'n disgwyl?

We're always happy to meet new people, and visitors to us. We have an informal structure but the morning service usually takes the pattern of Story-Telling, Worship, Breaking of Bread and Prayer, and Teaching from the Bible.  The teaching time is aimed at 20 minutes with 10 minutes of discussion time either within or at the end of the talk. Once a month and throughout August we have an all-age service called 'Allsorts' where hopefully there is a little something for everyone! Tea, coffee and biscuits are served after the service where there is plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions.

Dan ni'n hapus iawn i gyfarfod pobl newydd, ac ymwelwyr hefyd. Mae ein gwasanaethau yn anffurfiol, a fel arfer yn cynnwys amser i addoli, cael cymun, ac i amser i rannu storiau a hanes. Bydd 'na bregeth pob wythnos am ~20 munud gydag fel arfer 10 munud i sgwrsio ac ymateb. Unwaith y mis, a thrwy gydol mis Awst rydym cael gwasanaeth 'Allsorts' i bob oedran lle gobeithio bydd 'na rywbeth bach i bawb!
Lluniaeth ysgafn ar gael ar ôl y gwasanaeth. Digon o amser i sgwrsio, gofyn ychydig o gwestiynau ac wrth cwrs, dod i nabod ein gilydd yn well.

What about children and youth?  Be' am y plant a phobl ifanc?

We run a specific program just for children and young people. Most weeks the children stay with their parents at the start of the service as we worship (sing songs, tell our stories and break bread with one another!) together for the first part of the morning. Someone will usually announce when the children need to go to their respective programs. If it's your first time, you will need to go with your children and register them.

Rydym yn cynnal rhaglen benodol ar gyfer plant a phobl ifanc. Fel arfer, dyn ni i gyd yn addoli efo;n gilydd i ddechrau, a wedyn mae''r plant  a phobl ifanc yn mynd allan i'w grwpiau penodol. Bydd rhywun yn esbonio yn ystod y bore! Os dach chi'n dod am y tro cyntaf, ewch efo'ch plant i'w cofrestu diolos gwelwch chi'n dda.

Our aim is to make sure every child can be themselves in a safe and welcoming environment. Our children's workers are DBS checked and we have safeguarding procedures in place, we take our responsibility for the safety of children and young people very seriously.

We want the kids to have great fun whilst learning more about Jesus and meeting with Him.

Rydym ni eisiau'r plant cael hwyl yn dysgu am Iesu, a dod i nabod yr Arglwydd yn well.

If you have any questions about the programmes or want to know more about bringing your kids along on a Sunday then please email us or fill in our Contact Us form.

Os oes gynnych chi unrhyw gwestiwn am ein rhaglenni, neu os dych chi eisiau gwybod mwy am ddod â'ch plant chi ar ddydd Sul, ebostiwch ni neu llenwch y Ffurflen Gyswllt.
